The Common Innovation DNA in Apple’s Steve Jobs and the Book of Changes

At the organization level, the culture of an organization may instill innovation DNAs in an organization. Identifying the culture root of innovation is an important first step to promote innovation.  

Apple Inc. and Steve Jobs are considered the most innovative company and individual in the last 30 years. We will analyze I-Ching, the most influential Chinese classic, and other classic text to identify common innovation DNAs to compare with the innovation DNAs from Apple Inc. and Steve Jobs.

Minder Chen received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1979, an M.B.A. from National Chiao Tung University in 1983, and a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the University of Arizona in 1988. 

He is currently an Associate Professor of Management Information Systems in the Martin V. Smith School of Business and Economics at California State University Channel Islands. He was formerly an Associate Professor of Information Systems and Operations Management in the School of Management at George Mason University.
